Daily Activities Made Easier for People with ALS

This manual is for educational purposes only. The information provided in this manual is not intended to replace professional medical assessment or management of ALS. Your doctor, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and other qualified healthcare providers must be consulted before starting any treatment.

By using the manual, people with ALS can be their own advocates in maintaining their quality of life. They can use the manual to find equipment and/or tools to make their everyday activities less difficult. This manual supplements The ALS Association’s Living with ALS Manual 4: Functioning When Your Mobility Is Affected, by providing concrete and specific information on adaptive equipment that can help people with ALS preserve independent functioning.

The purpose of the manual is to provide people with ALS with an educational resource that encourages them to take an active role in working with their health care professionals in maintaining their own quality of life.

Remember that this manual was written in 2005 so technology has advanced a great deal since then.
